How to Get Stickers off a Car: Materials and Steps

The best way to know how to get stickers off a car is to know the right supplies to use! You can get the necessary materials at any Modesto hardware store. Some of these supplies are probably already in your vehicle!

  • Car washing soap
  • Hairdryer
  • Any small plastic card, like a library card or an old school ID
  • Tree sap remover or Goo Gone Automotive
  • A few clean, dry towels

To remove stickers from the body of your car, just follow these steps:

  1. Clean the entire sticker and the surrounding area with the car wash soap
  2. Take the hair dryer and put it on hot. Hold it 2-3 inches away from the stick for a few seconds, working from the inside-out to get heat on every area. This heat is important for the next step.
  3. With the sticker heated, push your plastic car under the edge of the sticker. You’ll be able to slowly lift and peel the rest of the sticker off. If everything doesn’t come off, you just need to repeat the process!
  4. Is there residue leftover? The question now is how to remove sticker residue from a car. This is what the Goo Gone/Tree Sap Remover is for: follow the instructions on the box and wipe gently until the sticky residue is gone!

How to Get Stickers off a Car Window

The process for how to get stickers off car windows is slightly different. For this, Atwater drivers won’t use a plastic card, but a razor blade. Remember to never use a razor blade inside tinted windows. Here’s the total list of materials you’ll need:

  • Razor blade
  • Clean, dry towels
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Dish soap and hot water

Now, here are step-by-step instructions:

  1. Peel a little bit of the sticker off using the razor blade, then use your hand to remove the sticker.
  2. Now you just need to know how to remove sticker residue from your car windows. First, use dish soap and hot water to rub the window. This may even finish the job!
  3. If some residue remains, go ahead and use the razor blade to try and remove the rest.
  4. If neither the dish soap or the razor blade completely removes the residue, rubbing alcohol usually does the trick. Simply soak a paper towel in rubbing alcohol and scrub, using the razor blade to help yourself out. After you’re done, just use a clean towel soaked in water to finish the job.
